Born in 1960, Bablu Chitrakar was the recipient of state and district level awards in 1996 and 1997. Originally from Naya, he was the son of Amar Chitrakar, from whom he received his training. His younger brothers Anwar and Sanwar are well known patuas of Naya. Bablu participated in fairs held across the country - Tamil Nadu, Goa, Gujarat, Tripura as well as Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Sadly, Bablu succumbed to a stroke on the morning of December 3, 2021 at the Hosto Shilpo Mela grounds in Kolkata.
