Panchmura village in West Bengal`s Bankura district is a colony of traditional potters. These potters (and those of nearby villages) have, for centuries, been crafting terracotta horses, elephants and other votive figurines of various sizes. The Panchmura style of pottery is considered to be the finest in the region and it was from here that the exquisite Bankura horse shot to fame about 50 years ago.
