Our mission is to disseminate, promote and encourage public awareness of traditional arts and crafts of rural India, starting with West Bengal and create sustainable and dignified livelihoods for artists and artisans.  We will do this primarily through an internet based portal which will act as a repository of information for the public and future researchers and through activities that showcase and promote indigenous arts and crafts.

The Daricha portal is solely dedicated to the promotion of folk and tribal arts. Daricha means "window" in Urdu - a window that provides instant access to knowledge on our folk and tribal arts and its practitioners. In bringing these forms alive to a wider global audience, we hope to not only connect you to the artists and their arts, but also to enable you to contribute towards the conservation and propagation of these arts.
