The hugely talented patua, Gurupada Chitrakar passed away in July 2021. A recipient of the prestigious National Award from the Government of India, he had performed in the US, UK, Spain, Italy and all over India to much acclaim.  In addition to his traditional work, Gurupada also interpreted stories from the Panchatantra through the medium of his patachitras - at the request of the Crafts Council, New Delhi. This exhibition took place in February 2014 at the India International Centre, New Delhi.
