53 year old Naresh Kinnor (born in 1962) belongs to a family of traditional dhakis. His father, Nagen Kinnor and his uncle Ambika (better known as Kandura) Kinnor who were well known dhakis of the region, were his gurus. Naresh started learning how to play as a child, even before he was able to hold a dhak properly. The dhak is Naresh`s only source of income - he is not a cultivator. Naresh has taught his son his art and has also taught several other students. |
